I am from a small town south of Roswell and North of Carlsbad.  These are the location directions I give since hardly anyone knows where Artesia, NM sits on the map.  I was born and raised in Artesia which is why it was difficult leaving home for the first time to come to NMSU.
My reasons for choosing NMSU were to stay close to home.  I have enjoyed my stay here in Las Cruces.  The only problem I have with this city is that it is too big for my likings.  I grew up in a town with a smaller population than that of the university.  But, Las Cruces has grown on me.
Working at the SWAT Lab has been one of the best experiences.  The people are pleasant and almost family like.  Working in the lab gave me a new insight as to what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.  It's rare finding a job that is fun to go to.  It's even harder finding a job where most everyone gets along.
My future plans are to get a bachelors in English and Biology from NMSU.  I want to teach English at the high school level for a year or two in San Diego.  Once I've established residency in California, I hope to attend UCSD SCRIPPS Institute of Oceanography.  There I will earn a degree in Marine Biology.
