PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
-
NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY, S.W.A.T. Lab, Las Cruces 1994-PRESENT Organic
Section Supervisor, Am in charge of the organic analysis section of the
state drinking water testing program. Supervise a staff of eight chemist
on EPA 500 series drinking water methods. Have been directly responsible
for the method development of 11 methods. Instrumentation includes GC's
with ECD, FID, PID, and Hall detectors, two HPLC's (fluorescence and diode
array), and three Quadrapole Mass Spectrometers plus a Ion Trap.
-
LOCKHEED\ NASA, White Sands Test Facility, Las Cruces 1992-94 Senior Scientist,
Responsibilities involved analytical testing of a diverse range of materials
for the Space Program. Was in charge of metals analysis by ICP and AA techniques.
As a special project chemist was involved in Mercury analysis (Cold Vapor)
and off gas (air sampling and analysis) testing for the NAVY. Managed method
development on Environmental projects which included Solid Phase Extraction
applications. Additional techniques include TOC, Polarography, GC with
FID, NPD, and MS detectors.
-
BC ANALYTICAL, Glendale, CA 1988-91 Senior Research Chemist, Responsibilities
involved method development, trouble shooting, and environmental analytical
research. As the special projects chemist performed analysis and research
on difficult and complex matrices. Was responsible for project management
of client sponsored research projects which include environmental treatability
studies. Have experience with most of the 8000, 600, 500, and TO series
EPA methods.
-
* Major projects have included-
-
*PCB's in autofluff: degradation study of alkaline dechlorination. Managed
all steps of analysis from sample preparation through final report production.
Project involved research into non-routine data interpretation.
-
*Pentachlorphenol contaminated soil from a retired lumber site. Involved
soil column leachability studies of PCP plus hydrocarbons (extractables
and volatiles). Instrumental methods included GC (601/602), GC/MS (625,624),
plus unique SIM work.
EDUCATION
